CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Freedom Celebration returns this July 4th with the theme “America Celebrates Pride of the Heartland,” honoring the resilience, heritage, and unity of Midwestern communities. Despite some unexpected schedule changes, organizers are determined to deliver a heartfelt celebration of American independence.

This year’s Grand Marshal is the Decker Family, recognized for their longstanding dedication to the Champaign-Urbana area and civic service. However, due to unforeseen circumstances and a shortage of required support staff, the much-anticipated parade will now begin at 4:30 PM, with a revised route that attendees are encouraged to check before heading out.

Two popular events, the Youth Run and the 5K Run/Walk, have unfortunately been canceled for 2025. Entertainment begins at 6:00 p.m., leading up to the fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.
