MONTICELLO, IL (Chambana Today) – On July 9, at approximately 6:38 a.m., a black Ford utility vehicle was observed disobeying a stop sign, prompting officers to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, however, refused to comply and fled the scene.
The vehicle traveled roughly 1.75 miles before coming to a stop in the yard of a residence on the 700 block of E. North Street. After stopping, the driver exited the vehicle and was identified by officers as Tyler Pieper.
Pieper was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI-Drugs and possession of a controlled substance. According to police, additional traffic and drug-related charges may be filed pending review by the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
