CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Champaign County Sheriff Dustin Heuerman has officially announced his intent to seek re-election for a third term as Sheriff of Champaign County. First elected in 2018 as an underdog candidate, Sheriff Heuerman has led the Sheriff’s Office with a focus on professionalism, ethics, and community engagement.
“Serving as Sheriff of Champaign County has been the honor of my lifetime,” said Sheriff Heuerman. “I remain committed to ensuring a safer, fairer community for all residents and visitors, and I believe the work we’ve started must continue.”
Over the past two terms, Sheriff Heuerman has overseen more than 150 employees across four divisions: law enforcement, corrections, court security, and emergency management. Under his leadership, the Sheriff’s Office has embraced data-driven strategies, invested in employee training and resources, and prioritized fairness, transparency, and community partnership.
