Champaign, IL (CHAMBANA TODAY)– Film Champaign-Urbana, a part of Experience Champaign-Urbana will host their second in a series of workshops focusing on the film industry in the region—“So You Want to be a Film Vendor?” on May 23, 5:00–6:00 p.m. at Analog Wine Library. Co-hosted with Shatterglass Films and The Line Film Co., this workshop will how productions work with local vendors and what they need to know to be successful.

Vendors may include caterers, hotels, truck and motorhome rental, equipment and supply rental, and security.

“We are excited to work with Film Champaign-Urbana to expand the understanding of what it means to bring production work to the area and explain how businesses will feel the positive impact,” explains Jennifer Shelby, co-owner of Shatterglass Films. “We are continuing our outreach and education series and focusing on all the types of vendors we use in this industry. Whether we are working on a short film, a documentary, a music video, or a feature-length film, it truly takes a village to make it all happen.”

Similar to the locations database now available for filmmakers, Film Champaign-Urbana is seeking to develop a vendor database that will easily connect local organizations to productions based on their needs.

“With the soundstages coming to Rantoul, and an active group of local filmmakers and production companies, this industry continues to grow in our community. Ensuring the infrastructure is in place for large productions is critical to making a big impact on our local economy,” explains Mark Brown, Director of Sports, Events, and Film for Experience Champaign-Urbana.
