CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Entrepreneurs and small business owners in Champaign have another opportunity to grow their ventures, as the City of Champaign announces the second round of its New and Growing Business Programs. In partnership with the Champaign County Economic Development Center, the initiative aims to boost local economic development by providing financial reimbursements and technical support to qualifying businesses.
Two program tracks are available:
-
New Business Program – Offers up to $10,000 in reimbursements for entrepreneurs starting a new business or operating a business less than two years old. Home-based businesses are eligible.
-
Growing Business Program – Offers up to $20,000 in reimbursements to established small businesses over two years old with physical storefronts in Champaign. Home-based businesses do not qualify for this track.
Applications are due by October 26, 2025, and awardees will be announced before the end of the year. All applicants must meet eligibility criteria and be located within Champaign city limits.
To improve their chances of approval, businesses are encouraged to work with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Applicants can gain extra points in the scoring process by attending workshops or business advising sessions with the SBDC within the past six months. Additionally, the Champaign Public Library offers business plan resources and support for applicants.
The City will host two informational sessions about the program:
-
In-person: September 23, 12:00–2:00 p.m. at the Champaign Public Library
-
Online webinar: September 25, 1:00–2:30 p.m.
