CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College will offer two Spanish-language shows on Saturday, October 4.

The planetarium will present “Un cielo, un mundo: La aventura de Big Bird,” a Sesame Street show offering an introduction to the night sky. The show will take viewers on a trip to the Moon with Big Bird, Elmo, and Hu Hu Zhu.

The show is funded by a PNC Foundation grant and produced by the Adler Planetarium, Sesame Workshop, the Beijing Planetarium, and Liberty Science Center. It will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Later in the day, the planetarium will also present “Astronomía a gran escala” at 4:30 p.m. This full dome show explores the world-class observatories nestled in northern Chile’s mountains. Viewers can learn why Chile, with its beautiful mountain ranges and clear skies, create an ideal environment for studying the cosmos.

Admission for each show costs $4. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door beginning a half-hour before each show. Members of the Friends of the Staerkel Planetarium are admitted for free.
