URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The City of Urbana announced on Wednesday afternoon that Fire Chief Kent “Demond” Dade resigned from his position with the Urbana Fire Department.
Dade had been the Urbana Fire Department’s Fire Chief since 2022, when he took over for the retiring Charles Lauss.
“Chief Dade has dedicated himself to the safety and well-being of Urbana residents, and I thank him for his service,” Urbana Mayor DeShawn Williams said in a statement. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
During the leadership transition within the Urbana Fire Department, Deputy Chiefs Steven Doggett and Tai Prendergast will provide steady operational leadership for the department. Mayor Williams emphasized that the department remains fully operational and continues to serve the community with “professionalism, excellence, and dedication.”
“The Urbana Fire Department is a pillar of this community,” Williams said. “I have full confidence in our team’s ability to maintain continuity and provide the highest level of service while we move forward.”
