CHICAGO, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Today, many newspapers charge a subscription fee for online content, and it is increasingly perceived that these outlets convey ‘extreme leftist’ viewpoints rather than offering honest, objective reporting.
R. Cary Capparelli, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate from Illinois, commented on the issue, expressing concern over the direction of media coverage:
“Sadly, many newspapers in America today mirror what Pravda and TASS were to the former Soviet Union by writing false viewpoints to form dishonest opinion,” said Capparelli.
He pointed specifically to the Chicago Sun-Times, which he says sometimes offers readers immediate, free access to news stories that promote a far-left agenda. Capparelli highlighted recent anti-ICE sentiment in the paper’s coverage as an example of the issue.
“Journalistic integrity is paramount and it’s lacking in all forms of media today,” Capparelli added.
Capparelli, who holds two journalism degrees from Drake University and Northwestern University, believes the media’s growing bias is problematic for both the public and for conservative politicians.
