URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The Urbana Police Department is calling on the community to help “fill the box” during its upcoming Donation Drive-Thru event, benefitting Courage Connection—a local organization that provides shelter and resources for survivors of domestic violence.

The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7, at the Urbana Police Department, located at 400 South Vine Street. Vehicles will enter from Urbana Avenue, drop off donations near the fire bay, and exit onto Vine Street.

“This is about more than just donations,” said Urbana Police Chief Larry D. Boone. “It’s about showing survivors that they are seen, supported, and valued by their community.”

Items needed include soap, dinnerware, deodorant, cups, and other household essentials. Residents can also contribute by ordering from Courage Connection’s wishlist and shipping items directly, or by making a financial gift.

Deputy Chief Zachery Mikalik emphasized the importance of community involvement: “Domestic violence affects far too many families in Urbana. This drive is a way for all of us to stand together and make a difference.”
