CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Illinois women’s basketball team opened its 2025–26 season with a strong statement Tuesday night, defeating Southeast Missouri 91–67 at State Farm Center.
Sophomore Berry Wallace led the Illini with a career-high 27 points and a double-double, setting the tone in a convincing team performance.
“I think my teammates really helped,” Wallace said after the win. “They were able to get me some great looks and easy buckets.”
Gretchen Dolan and Maddie Webber each added 16 points, with Dolan also contributing seven assists and five rebounds. Cearah Parchment scored eight points, while freshman Destiny Jackson added six in 33 minutes of play.
With the win, Illinois starts the season 1–0 and looks ahead to hosting Illinois State on Sunday, November 9, at noon.
