CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Clinton students will not have school on Monday after a widespread power outage left much of the district in the dark Sunday. Superintendent Drew Goebel announced that Monday will count as an Emergency Day, meaning it must be made up at the end of the school year.
Lincoln School remains without power, while other buildings are dealing with heating issues caused by a surge. Maintenance crews are working to complete repairs, and Goebel said he expects classes to resume on Tuesday.
All after-school activities will continue as scheduled Monday, as gym facilities were not affected. As of Sunday night, Ameren reported more than 1,500 customers in Clinton still without power.
