CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department swiftly responded to a fire at a school located in the 2500 block of Galen Dr. on Tuesday, June 11, at 2:35 p.m. Thanks to their rapid action, the fire was quickly brought under control.
Firefighters were alerted by an occupant who initially believed the fire was confined to a bathroom vent fan. Upon arrival, the fire crews found that the school staff had already evacuated all students safely. The firefighters then proceeded to investigate the situation inside the building. They discovered that the fire had spread beyond the bathroom vent fan, prompting them to deploy multiple hose lines to extinguish the flames.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, attributed to the failure of a bathroom vent fan. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the occupants or the firefighters.
