SAVOY, IL (Chambana Today) — The Savoy Fire Department and the Village of Savoy are recognizing the retirement of Public Information Officer Eddie Bain, marking the end of a distinguished career spanning more than five decades in the fire service.
Bain’s career includes service with the Illinois Fire Service Institute, the Champaign Fire Department and the Urbana Fire Department. For the past 19 years, he has served the Village of Savoy as the department’s Public Information Officer, helping communicate critical information and strengthen connections between the department and the community.
Fire Chief Sam Smith praised Bain’s contributions and lasting impact.
“Eddie has always carried himself with professionalism, integrity, and a deep commitment to our community,” Smith said. “His knowledge, experience, and steady leadership have been invaluable to our organization and the residents we serve. He will be greatly missed, and we extend our sincere gratitude and best wishes to him in retirement.”
Bain’s retirement marks the conclusion of a career defined by service, leadership and dedication to public safety throughout central Illinois.
He will be honored with a celebration at 6 p.m. today at the Savoy Fire Department station.
The Savoy Fire Department is an ISO Class 3 paid-on-call and part-time agency providing firefighting, rescue and emergency medical services to village residents, as well as contracted areas that rely on Savoy for fire protection.
