Sugga Shaii Sweets: A Dream Realized

Shay Smith, the heart and soul behind Sugga Shaii Sweets, began her entrepreneurial journey in 2018. Shay was diagnosed with epilepsy and needed to find an alternative career path, leading her to turn her passion for baking into a business.

From Farmers Markets to Food Truck

With unwavering support from her husband and son, Shay transitioned from selling her delectable treats at farmers markets to owning a vibrant pink food truck. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Shay’s determination never wavered. She adapted and persevered, keeping her dream alive through tough times.

Southern Roots and Family Inspiration

Originally hailing from Memphis, Shay infuses her creations with southern charm and flavors. Growing up, she was inspired by culinary legend Emeril and learned the art of baking from her mom and grand momma. This familial influence is evident in her homemade caramel cakes, banana pudding, and cheesecakes, which have become crowd favorites.

Commitment to Quality

Shay is dedicated to using the finest and cleanest ingredients in her baking, a practice she honed out of necessity due to her son’s allergies. This commitment to quality is a hallmark of Sugga Shaii Sweets.

Community and Future Goals

Shay’s journey is not just about her success; she is passionate about mentoring future baker entrepreneurs. Her pink food truck can often be found at local farmers markets and at Slot and Wings on Bloomington Road in July.
