CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — After helping power Illinois to one of the most successful seasons in program history, guard Andrej Stojakovic is taking the next step—while not ruling out a return.
Stojakovic has entered his name into the 2026 NBA Draft, according to reports, but will maintain his college eligibility for now. The move allows the standout guard to explore professional opportunities while preserving the option to return to Champaign for another season.
The decision comes on the heels of a breakthrough year for Illinois under head coach Brad Underwood. The Illini reached the Final Four after a dominant run through the NCAA Tournament’s South Region, highlighted by a marquee Sweet 16 victory over Houston. Stojakovic played a central role in that success, earning All-Region honors along the way.
Stojakovic averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 50% from the field. Though his three-point production dipped compared to earlier in his college career, his overall offensive contributions remained critical to Illinois’ success.
The Illini roster faces key changes heading into next season, including the expected departure of star guard Keaton Wagler to the NBA. However, the return of forward David Mirkovic provides a strong foundation. Should Stojakovic ultimately decide to withdraw from the draft and return, Illinois could once again field a team capable of competing at the highest level.
