CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois track & field assistant coach Deanna Price advanced to the Olympic hammer throw finals with a throw of 73.79 meters. She will throw in the finals today, starting at 12:57 p.m. CT.
Price joined the Illini staff in 2022 as a volunteer. She is entering her second year as an assistant.
She competed at Southern Illinois in college and was a two-time NCAA Champion in the hammer throw. She set a world record weight throw and became the first woman ever over 26 meters at the 2023 USATF Indoor Championships.
Price competed in both the 2016 and 2021 Olympics.
