CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Champaign residents can dive into summer starting May 23, as the Sholem Aquatic Center officially opens for the season. The facility, located at 2205 Sangamon Drive, promises fun for all ages with an 8-lane 25-yard lap pool, a zero-depth play pool, kiddie slides, a lazy river, and enclosed body slides for thrill-seekers.

Open swim hours run Monday through Friday from noon to 7 p.m., and weekends from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. After August 9, the pool will be open on weekends only, with Labor Day hours from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 per visit, with a reduced twilight rate of $8 for evening swims and discounts for military members, first responders, and children under 3.

Season passes are available for youth, adults, and seniors, offering a cost-effective way to enjoy unlimited visits throughout the summer. Residents can purchase a season pass or punch pass here to secure their spot.

In addition to open swim, Sholem hosts swim lessons, junior lifeguard programs, water aerobics, and even after-hours rentals for birthdays and private events. The center emphasizes safety and inclusivity, requiring teens ages 13-17 to have a current Champaign Park District household account on file, and welcoming all patrons regardless of gender identity. Sunscreen stations are also available to help families protect their skin while enjoying the sun.
