CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois volleyball kicks off the season with the Best Western Invitational from August 30-31 at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. They play Cincinnati on Friday at 2 p.m. The second match is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m.

This season, Illinois volleyball will face off against two teams that include current member’s siblings: Averie Hernandez plays against her sister, Sydnie, at Bowling Green this weekend, and Raegen Reilly play against her sister, Bergen, twice this year, when Illinois hosts Nebraska on Oct. 3 and meets them again on the road on October 25.

Cincinnati is coming off a 2023 season in which the team posted an overall record of 12-16. Bowling Green enters the 2024 season after ending last season with a 19-13 record.

Illinois has a 9-3 all-time record against Cincinnati. The last time these two teams met was in 2012, when the Fighting Illini took down the Bearcats, 3-1. Against Bowling Green, Illinois has a 2-0  record.
