CHAMPAIGN COUNTY (Chambana Today) – The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for central Champaign County Friday night. The warning lasted until 8:30 p.m. and covered Champaign, Urbana, and nearby areas.
There was sustained heavy rainfall which began at 6:15 p.m., which triggered areas of flooding on side streets – and major arteries in Champaign-Urbana. The rain subsided by 9 p.m., but there were still affected areas through Saturday morning.
There is no chance of rain for the rest of the holiday weekend.
