URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana Fire Department was called to a three-story apartment building at 902 E. Harding Dr. Four engines, one ladder, and a command officer were initially dispatched. Fire units were on scene in about three minutes. Upon arrival, fire crews reported smoke and fire coming from a second-floor window. Initial crews located the fire and extinguished it in under 10 minutes. One occupant was rescued from the first floor and no injuries were reported. The utilities were disconnected to three apartments. with residents in two of those apartments relocated by the property owner. The rest of the building suffered only minor damage, and residents were allowed to re-enter those apartments.
Damage estimates have not been determined and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
