URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – A United States Postal Services Letter Carrier was the victim of an armed robbery on Monday, September 23, at approximately 7:48 p.m. The armed robbery occurred in the 2400 block of Prairie Green in Urbana. The male suspect pulled out a handgun and held it at his side while confronting the letter carrier. The offender demanded the keys to the community mailboxes from the letter carrier’s bag. The carrier complied and the suspect ran out of the apartment building with the keys. The carrier was not injured.
The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, in a black ski mask, gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He was roughly 5’08-5’09 tall with a thin build.
The Urbana Police Department is investigating this incident in conjunction with the United States Postal Inspection Service.
