CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Parkland Second State Theatre is preparing to showcase “12 Angry Jurors,” adapted for stage by Sherman L. Sergel, and based on the Emmy Award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose. Performances are scheduled on October 3, 4, 5, 11, 12 at 7:30 p.m. and October 6 and 13 at 3 p.m. The show is rated Teen for adult content and language.
Beginning October 3, audiences will enjoy this drama, about a 19-year-old man who has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case, but one of the jurors isn’t convinced. In the course of re-examining the case, the jury argues. Over the course of the play, the jurors learn about each other’s backgrounds, values, and biases. In order to deliver a verdict, 12 frustrated jurors must reach a consensus, despite their differences, on the future of a young man’s life.
BJ Gailey directs, and the cast includes Li Reichlin, Erin Kaufman, Jamie McDaniels, Karen Hughes, Ciara Kenny, Yeshua Harris, Tony Curtis, James Castree, David Heckman, John Howard, Mary Rose Cottingham, and Monty Joyce.
Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for students, youth, seniors, and veterans. Opening night (October 3) costs $10. Tickets are available for purchase online.
