URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana Firefighters 1147 will be hosting their annual Halloween Truck-or-Treat on Sunday, October 27 at Lincoln Square Mall. Antique cars can register between 9 – 10:30, and the event will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The antique fire engines, cars/trucks, and tractors will compete for awards.
Instead of a vehicle registration, consider a donation to the Local 1147 Charity Fund. Local 1147 spokesperson Drake Royal says, “Our favorite part of the event is seeing the community come out, kids dressed in their costumes, and all our sponsorships and car show entries passing out candy to the kids.”
The event will be held, rain or shine, in the parking lot of the Lincoln Square mall. There will be vehicle awards presentations at 1 p.m.
Royal says this event is also an important fundraiser for the union. “This event is so important because it gives the community a safe place for them to go trick or treating. It allows us, as a union, to also put a face to the people that could be responding when they call 911. The funds we raise go directly back into the community that we serve. The donations support fire victims, who may have lost their houses, as well as various charities within the Champaign/Urbana area.”
Participants are encouraged to bring candy to share.
