SAINT JOSEPH, IL (Chambana Today) – A police procession honoring an Illinois State Trooper who died in the line of duty was held Monday afternoon.

The police procession moved from Urbana to St. Joe, starting at 1 p.m. yesterday. The procession moved through 150 to North Third Street and finished at Freese Funeral Home in St. Joe. In addition to a heavy police participation, the procession also drew out dozens of community members paying their respects to the fallen trooper.

Trooper Corey Thompsen was killed on Friday in northern Champaign County when his motorcycle was hit by a truck, driven by 32-year-old Helen Torres of Thomasboro, hit him. Thompsen died from his injuries at an area hospital.
