CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Fighting Illini women’s basketball is now ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Top-25 Poll. Illinois opened the 2024-25 season with an 83-74 win over No. 19 Florida State followed by a 65-53 victory against Marquette.
Illinois has been ranked in six combined AP polls under head coach Shauna Green. The team moved to 2-0 on the season after beating Marquette, 65-53, at State Farm Center Sunday night.
Genesis Bryant tallied 15 points while going 9-for-11 from the free-throw line. Adalia McKenzie scored 12 points and grabbed nine boards. Brynn Shoup-Hill added 11 points and six rebounds.
Illinois hosts Eastern Illinois on Thursday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
