CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Prairie Gardens in Champaign is once again hosting the Champaign County Salvation Army bell ringers this holiday season. On Friday, November 15, at 11 a.m., Prairie Gardens will host the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff, kicking off the organization’s annual fundraising campaign.
Megan Reynolds of Prairie Gardens said, “The Salvation Army bells have become part of the holiday atmosphere here at Prairie Gardens, and it’s wonderful to see their red kettles and hear the bells ring once again. Supporting the Salvation Army has always been close to our hearts, and we’re honored to be among the first stops as they launch this season’s fundraising and encourage new volunteers to join.”
The Red Kettle Campaign is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. Last year, the Champaign County Salvation Army served over 74,000 people. Here are some of the ways in which donations helped in 2023:
● Food Pantry: 276,566 food items and free goods given; 19,579 families served
● Holiday Services: 22,392 toys given
