CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois is currently ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 in football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. The Fighting Illini are one of just three schools appearing in all three polls, including Alabama and Iowa State.
The Fighting Illini football team is ranked No. 24 in the latest AP poll, returning to the Top 25 following Saturday’s 38-16 win over Michigan State. The Illini men’s basketball team has cracked the AP poll for the first time this season, at No. 25. The Illini women’s basketball team is up to No. 22 in the current AP poll.
This marks the first time since January 2000 that Illinois is ranked concurrently in all three sports.
Illinois Athletic Director Josh Whitman hired all three head coaches – Bret Bielema, Brad Underwood, and Shauna Green.
