CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign City Council has unanimously approved a resolution to convert a business center on S. Mattis Ave. into a homeless shelter.
The shelter, proposed by CU at Home, will be located at Sangamon and Mattis Dr., adjacent to Little Caesars Pizza and Circle K. It will house 26 individuals, adding to the approximately 30 people the organization already serves across seven other locations.
With the council’s approval, existing businesses in the center will need to relocate to accommodate the shelter.
