Monticello community mourns tragic loss of high school student Andrew B. Beals

The Piatt County community is grieving the sudden loss of 16-year-old Andrew B. Beals, a Monticello High School student, who passed away Monday morning after his car veered off the road near North Old Route 47 and 1900 North Road.

MONTICELLO, IL (Chambana Today) – The Piatt County community is grieving the sudden loss of 16-year-old Andrew B. Beals, a Monticello High School student, who passed away Monday morning after his car veered off the road near North Old Route 47 and 1900 North Road.

Beals, described as an honor student and dedicated Boy Scout, was on his way to school when he is believed to have suffered a medical emergency that led to the accident. Deputies found him unresponsive at the scene.

Beals was an active member of his Boy Scout troop, which has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his family. The troop also plans to coordinate meal deliveries to help the family through this difficult time. For those looking to support the Beals family, donations can be made here.

Monticello High School administrators activated a crisis team on Tuesday to provide counseling and emotional support for students and staff. The Piatt County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the circumstances surrounding Beals’ death.
