CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Two standout players from Illinois Football have earned prestigious spots on the AP All-Big Ten First Team following exceptional performances during the 2024 regular season.
Wide receiver Pat Bryant finished second in the Big Ten in receiving yards with 984 and tying for first in receiving touchdowns with 10. Bryant also led the nation with three game-winning touchdown catches in the final minute or overtime, solidifying his reputation as a key offensive weapon for the Fighting Illini.
On the defensive side, Xavier Scott delivered a dominant performance to anchor Illinois’ defense. The defensive back became the latest in a line of All-Big Ten First Team honorees during head coach Bret Bielema’s tenure, joining past Illinois stars such as Devon Witherspoon, Sydney Brown, and Kerby Joseph. Scott tied for second in the Big Ten with four interceptions and was recognized as one of 15 semifinalists for the prestigious Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation’s top defensive back.
