DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – On Sunday, January 5 at around 4:30 p.m., Danville Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 900 block of Martin Street. Witnesses reported seeing individuals running from the area after the gunfire.
During the investigation, officers tracked a suspect to a nearby residence within two blocks of the scene. With the support of the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, police obtained a search warrant for the residence.
As a result, officers arrested 19-year-old Alvin L. Daniels of Danville. A firearm was recovered during the search, and Daniels was taken into custody. He was transported to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building and booked on Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Obstructing/Resisting a Peace Officer.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that an arrest is merely an accusation, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
