CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – A shooting that occurred on the 1900 block of Cynthia Drive on January 9, has left an 18-year-old man dead, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities. Police were dispatched to the scene at 3:59 p.m. on Thursday after receiving reports of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical aid from responding officers and Champaign County Sheriff’s Deputies, the victim later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim and his companions were sitting in a vehicle when an unknown assailant opened fire on the group.
