CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — An indoor playground that served families in the Champaign community for more than two decades is shutting down following ongoing safety and property concerns.
First Christian Church announced it will close the longtime community playground after recent incidents involving property damage, inappropriate substances and adult material found inside the facility. Church leaders also cited repeated disrespect toward staff members as part of the decision.
The playground had been a popular destination for local families, birthday parties and children’s activities for years. Many parents expressed disappointment over the closure, especially with summer approaching.
Church officials said they are now evaluating ways to improve safety and determine the future of the space. Additional information is expected once decisions are finalized.
