CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Champaign Police Department investigators are searching for answers after a man was stabbed multiple times Saturday evening and hospitalized in serious condition.

Police responded around 5:15 p.m. to the 1000 block of Crescent Drive after receiving reports of a stabbing. Officers arrived to find a 37-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Firefighters and police officers provided emergency medical care until the victim was transported to a nearby hospital. As of Sunday afternoon, he remained hospitalized in serious condition.

Investigators later determined the stabbing had actually occurred in the 2600 block of West Springfield Avenue. According to police, the victim fled the scene on foot for nearly a mile before arriving at Crescent Drive while searching for help.

Detectives collected physical and video evidence and interviewed witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests had been made as of Sunday evening.
