DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — Several Danville residents woke up early Wednesday morning, April 29, to loud and unexpected police presence in different neighborhoods as the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) State and the Danville Police Departments executed arrest warrants as well as search warrants within the City of Danville.
Some residents on Facebook described the scenes as unexpected and a bit scary, while many also praised the Police efforts to help clean up crime and make the community safer. A couple of videos making the rounds, shows FBI agents standing with weapons drawn and flashbangs deployed, while calling out from military type vehicles for certain subjects to come out with their hands up.
Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates explains, ” The Danville Police Department will continue to partner with and assist other agencies to reduce violent crime and drug activity that has a negative impact to the quality of life of the citizens in our community.”
“FBI Springfield Field Office as well as local, state and federal law enforcement partners are conducting court authorized activity in the Danville, Illinois area to include arrests and searches. This event is part of a coordinated effort to combat violent crime and drug activity. There will be a press release issued later in the week with more details.
