RANTOUL, IL (Chambana Today) — Rantoul’s Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch has been nationally recognized for its contributions to tourism, family entertainment, and agritourism in Champaign County. Owners Mark and Julie Hardy were honored at the Toast to Tourism: Celebrating Community Brilliance awards hosted by the Experience Champaign-Urbana Foundation on May 6.

“Mark and Julie Hardy have created something truly special in Rantoul,” said Mayor Samuel Hall III. “For 30 years, Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch has not only attracted visitors from across Illinois and the country but also created lasting family traditions.”

The ranch began in 1994 as Hardy’s Evergreen Acres, initially selling Christmas trees and landscaping services. After acquiring their first two reindeer, Mistletoe and Nanook, the Hardys transformed an old barn into a gift shop and began expanding their seasonal attractions. Today, the ranch includes a corn maze, hayrack tours, fall-themed events, and a growing herd of reindeer.

Over the decades, Hardy’s Reindeer Ranch has become a major destination for families, offering a mix of holiday cheer and educational opportunities about reindeer care. The business has also served as a model for agritourism in the region, mentoring new business owners interested in seasonal tourism ventures.

The ranch gained national attention when featured on Good Morning America in late 2025.
