CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — One of Central Illinois’ biggest running events is set to return later this month, bringing thousands of participants and visitors to the area.
The Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend will take place April 23 through April 25 across Champaign-Urbana, featuring a packed schedule of races and community events.
Festivities begin Thursday with the Michael Hogue Team Mile and the Health and Fitness Expo, which continues into Friday. Additional Friday events include the 5K Run/Walk and the 4th Mile.
Saturday’s lineup includes the full marathon, half marathon, 10K and wheelchair half marathon, along with the Busey Bank Youth Run and the Meijer 27th-Mile Celebrate Victory Bash.
Organizers say the weekend will also feature food trucks, live music and activities designed to create a welcoming atmosphere for runners and spectators alike.
As part of the event, participants can receive Wooden Nickels at the expo, offering discounts at local businesses from April 23 through May 2. The promotion is designed to encourage visitors to explore the community while supporting local shops and restaurants.
