URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Insect Fear Film Festival is back with a theme that promises to be creepier than ever: insect-human hybrids.

The free event will take place Saturday, Feb. 28, at Foellinger Auditorium on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Hosted by the Entomology Graduate Students Association in the university’s Department of Entomology, festivities begin at 5 p.m. Organizers say the festival blends science education with pop culture in a fun, family-friendly setting.

Activities include an insect petting zoo, opportunities to examine insects and arthropods through a bugscope, hands-on arts and crafts, and an insect-themed art exhibition featuring work by local K–12 students.

The evening also includes film screenings tied to this year’s theme, including the animated feature Sectaurs and the sci-fi thriller Infestation.

Admission is free and open to the public.
