DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A domestic abuser was sentenced to prison after the victim suffered an eye loss in a violent attack.
Jeremy Brown, formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery – Great Bodily Harm, a class 2 felony on February 21, 2025. Judge Mark S. Goodwin sentenced Brown to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with the defendant required to serve 85% of his sentence. Brown will also serve four years of mandatory supervised release. A detective with the Danville Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Oak Street to speak about a domestic battery that occurred on September 14, 2024.
Brown was at the victim’s apartment, left, and then re-entered. The victim told him to leave, but Brown punched the victim in the face. The victim’s shirt was covered in blood, and Brown drove the victim to OSF. Brown told the victim had been injured when he accidentally elbowed her in the eye. Upon speaking with the detective, Brown stated, “my reflex punched her.” The victim was then transferred by helicopter to St. Louis for treatment.
The orbital bones surrounding the victim’s eye had been broken and she ultimately lost her eye as a result of her injuries.
“The victim in this case endured unimaginable pain and lost her eye at the hands of this violent criminal. With the criminal case now resolved, we hope and pray that the victim can begin the true healing process. My office remains dedicated to seeking justice for victims of domestic violence in our community.” said State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy.
