DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A man was arrested after officers located a loaded firearm on a convicted felon.

The Danville Police Department (DPD) Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) along with the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group were working together on an investigation detail. During the detail on Thursday, March 6 at around 9:30 p.m., POP officers officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of North Bowman Avenue after witnessing an equipment and moving violation.

The driver was identified as 34-year-old John E. Forman of Danville. Through further investigation, officers found a loaded firearm on Forman. By law, Forman is not allowed to carry a firearm. He was then booked to the Public Safety Building and was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all suspects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
