CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Clarendon Hills residents and U of I Men’s Club Volleyball team member will be participating in the Christie Clinic Illinois Half Marathon.

Before this past December, AJ had never run over a mile consecutively. However, this race is his punishment for getting last place in his fantasy football league made up of friends from the U of I.

“It was honestly a super last minute and not thought out decision to make this race our punishment…It really is a blessing in disguise because, as a senior, who wouldn’t want to have a last semester tour around campus and ending at the Memorial 50-yard line?” said AJ.

Although it was initially seen as a punishment, it has turned into an exciting event for AJ and his friends.

“I really think I am looking forward to completing my goal that I will have had for 6 months on race day, and I think that the energy and buzz that I am going to feel for that 7:33 start time is going to be unbeatable. Plus, a run around the entire campus down green street and into Memorial stadium with my friends is going to be a blast.” said AJ
