URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Cunningham Children’s Home is asking for your support for their “Sensory Spaces, Hopeful Faces” campaign.
At Cunningham, there are many children who’ve experienced trauma. A good example is Ace, who is a 10-year-old resident. When he’s having a tough morning, Cunningham staff bring Ace to the sensory room where he can jump on the crash pad, shoots hoops and listens to music. These tools are important to help Ace calm down and get ready to learn. Ace now asks to the sensory room because it has become something steady and safe in his life.
Many children use these rooms regularly, because sensory support helps them build critical skills, reduce stress and regulate emotions. That’s why Cunningham is asking for your support to provide these children a safe space to learn.
