DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A two-year long chase came to an exciting conclusion yesterday when capturers Matt and Brittany Goodner put an end to the elusive “Lady Emu’s” escape across Central Illinois.

It was a normal night in late July when 11 emus broke out of a Danville farm and rampaged across Central Illinois. Ten of the emus were swiftly captured thanks to Vermillion County Animal Control, but one emu managed to evade the authorities for two years. Ever since then, the emu has been sighted around Central Illinois making appearances near schools and interstate highways.

The great escape came to an end when the elusive emu was sighted near the house of local residents Matt and Brittany Goodner. Brittany eventually was put in contact with the owner of the emu and was provided a special blend of food to leave out for her. The emu slowly made more frequent stops for food and water until she began coming to the Goodner household daily.

Finally, the owners brought out cow panels to surround the emu’s usual feeding area, caught her and returned her to the farm where she is now happily relaxing with the rest of her emu family.

Tune in tomorrow to Tommy and Callie in the Morning on Mix 94.5 for an exclusive interview with owner Ashlee about the long-awaited reunion between her and her elusive emu.
