MAHOMET, IL (Chambana Today) – The Mahomet Community Foundation recently announced its brand new community-based philanthropic group, 100 People of Impact (100POI).
100POI is available to anyone willing to donate $200 annually to support local charities. The point of the group is to “bring together diverse members of the community to pool their resources and support local charities,” said The Mahomet Community Foundation in a press release. The group will gather once a year to choose on a charity to receive their donations of $100 from each person.
This charity will be chosen through a voting system, through member nominations, and the chosen charity will be vetted. The nominees will have the opportunity to present their cause to the group at each meeting. The other $100 per person will be donated to the Mahomet Community Foundation endowment, which will be used to fund Mahomet events and support people living in Mahomet.
“The goal of 100 People of Impact, Mahomet is to bring together 100+ members, aiming to collectively donate $20,000, including $10,000 to charities that may not be able to generate the kind of attention needed to receive this level of funding. This funding will provide a substantial boost to local charities, enabling them to continue their vital work in the community,” said Sean Widener, President of the Mahomet Community Foundation.
