DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – The Danville Police Department (DPD) responded to a report about a juvenile who was taken to the hospital for a suspected gunshot injury.

The DPD responded to the OSF Sacred Heart Emergency Department about an individual who was delivered to the hospital due to injury by gunshot around 3:00a.m. on Saturday, September 14. Officers were able to obtain information that the individual was a juvenile and the victim’s mother had delivered the juvenile’s to the hospital. As the officers investigated further, they found cause to arrest 34-year-old Morgan Nelson, the victim’s mother on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Endangering the Life and Health of a Child.

The Department of Children’s Family Services also assisted the DPD with the incident to ensure the child’s safety. Luckily, the injuries were not fatal. The juvenile was then treated and released on the same day.
