CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Champaign announced in a press release the opportunity to pick up litter for America Recycles Day with free food following the cleanup.
The event to pick up litter will occur at Boneyard Creek on Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to noon and will be hosted by City of Champaign staff and members of Keep Champaign Beautiful. The event is in honor of America Recycles Day, a national initiative observed annually focused on raising awareness on the importance of recycling, reducing waste, and encouraging people to take action every November 15.
The day is managed by Keep America Beautiful, a nonprofit organization that focuses on sustainability and community cleanups. The event is a good way to keep the community engaged in cleaning up and also to remove garbage and litter cluttering up the waterways. A free pizza lunch will be hosted immediately after the cleanup.
