DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – Danville schools recently had students stay home for a day of online learning due to a social media report of a school threat.

The Danville Police Department (DPD) and Danville School District 118 (DSD 118) are currently investigating this situation. Through their investigation, DPD Detectives found a social media address located in Chicago, which is where the social media threats were posted. Through this, the DPD believed that the person who posted the threats does not live in the City of Danville and does not pose an immediate threat to the children or schools.

They stated that the threats are not valid, and the risk is very low. The DPD continues to investigate and follow up on this incident working with DSD 118 to reduce fear and increase safety.
