URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana Police Department (UPD) would like to announce Sergeant Jared Hurley as their Employee of the Month.
Sgt. Hurley displayed dedication, leadership, and professionalism that has strongly impacted the UPD and the community. He has displayed exceptional leadership on October 18, 2024, following the death of Illinois State Trooper Corey Thompsen. He worked hard as the sole sergeant on duty to transport Trooper Thompsen by organizing the route and establishing a command station.
His leadership was dearly appreciated and allowed the ISP and local agencies to support their officers and Trooper Thompsen’s family. On top of this, Sgt. Hurley also hones his skills as a Master Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, Taser Instructor, METRO SWAT Operator, and Honor Guard Member. He sets a standard for others to follow and strengthens the department altogether.
Sgt. Hurley is also a family man who exemplifies balance and integrity. His actions show that making a difference in the community and peoples’ lives is what matters most.
