CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-family home.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 600 block of English Creek Ct., Wednesday, December 18, at 2:34 p.m. On the scene, the crews reported light smoke coming from the front door of the home, which was a two-storyac duplex. Luckily, the home’s occupants were outside when they arrived. The firefighters deployed a single hose line and were able to extinguish the fire.
The cause was determined to be attributed to cooking and accidental. One occupants was treated on the scene and transported to a local hospital. Two dogs and one cat were rescued from the home. The CFD would like to remind the public that when the smoke alarm sounds, get out and stay out. While escaping through smoke, stay low to the ground and close the doors behind you.
