CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Champaign Police responded to an 18-year-old Champaign man lying on the ground of a residence.
Officers responded at 6:34 a.m. on December 24 and called for medical assistance for minor injuries. However, upon further assessment, multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds were found on the man’s torso and he was immediately transported to an area hospital. As of now, he remains in stable condition. Upon investigation, the wounds were attributed to an altercation between him and his acquaintances inside of his residence. Shots were fired and the man was struck.
Upon arrival on the scene, the other party swiftly left the scene. The investigation is still ongoing and officers are canvassing the surrounding area for any witnesses and video footage that can be of assistance. Residents and businesses in the area are encouraged to notify the Champaign Police Department.
